Romania exports massively clean energy

During 2013, especially in the last two months, Romania was a net exporter of energy, compared to last year when it was a net importer because of the amid drought that affected the country.

According to data from the National Power Dispatch quoted last – ora.ro a quantity of 660 GWh was sold out at the beginning of the most prolific month is September with an average of 316 MWh sold daily.

On the other hand, none of the local power producers has not exported energy. Whether produced thermal energy, hydro, wind, nuclear or photovoltaic, all sold to OPCOM energy because they are forced to , explains Nicholas Havrileţ , president of the National Regulatory Authority for Energy.

Thus, some buyers have decided that it is more profitable to sell power outside the country than in the country. To benefit  from this extremely good energy prices for clean energy manufacturers throws the current market very cheap. They allow their energy production to be subsidized by all consumers in Romania.

" There is not an energy producer who  exports. Here is a totally controlled market traders. They have branches here, and in most countries around, buy very cheap and sell expensive out here, "said Octavian Lohan, director of NPD.

In addition to the energy companies that have wind farms and less, solar, sell long-term contracts, also have energy that give the market the next day.

The market is very cheap at 70 euro / MWh during the day, up to 10-15 lei at night. Average stock price for delivered energy band in a long-term contract is 180 lei / MWh.

At what price they sell and especially to whom it can not be known, only from the contracts they conclude with the final beneficiary traders abroad. But this are confidential, the trader can not be obliged to make known to the authorities. According to Lohan and Havrileţ energy would reach new neighbors like Serbia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, and here in Turkey and Moldova.

" Energy producers in Romania have not yet grasped the opportunity arisen from the difference in price of energy they sell on “DAM” energy prices abroad. But maybe they will wake up, can understand that they can make some serious money in the purchase and sale of energy, " says Lohan.
