Record for Romania in the renewable energy sector in 2013

According to data from Transelectrica, Agerpres in the first 11 months of 2013 were installed renewable projects with a capacity of over 1,400 MW, which adds to the already existing 2,335 MW in the system up to date.

Thus, 2013 will remain in history as the year the Romanian energy sector that were installed most renewable electricity projects. The largest increase was a solar, where there were at the end of November 2013 – 740 MW, 15 times more than the end of 2012, when there were only 49 photovoltaic panels MW.

As wind power projects reached 2,459 MW, with  1,822 MW by the end of 2012. In the system there SHP 505 MW to 405 MW in December 2012, and biomass power plants 53 MW, compared to 40 MW in 2012.

However, the spectacular growth in this sector remains overshadowed by a decision that will rout clean energy investors, namely the Government's decision to reduce subsidies in the form of green certificates  for the new projects. According to the Government Decision 994/2013 , published in Official Gazette of 16 December, the new projects entering the system from January 1, 2014 receive fewer subsidies.
