Romania produced in the first eight months of the year, a total of 13.7 TWh of renewable energy, accounting for 41.6% of national electricity consumption in period.
Wind turbines produced 2.9 TWh and 10.8 TWh of total comes from hydropower.
The total national consumption reached 32.9 TWh, which means that renewable energy accounted for nearly half (41.6%) of national electricity consumption in the first eight months of the year.
Wind turbines produced in the mentioned period almost double the amount of energy compared to the same period of 2012, 2.9 TWh from 1.6 TWh in the last year.
Moreover, wind energy this year reached 7.7% of total electricity production, compared to the first eight months of 2012, when it accounted for 3.9%.
