A company from Romania revolutionize public lighting through intelligent energy management

FlashNet, a Romanian research and development companyin of intelligent energy management with operations worldwide, manages to revolutionize again the smart market lighting worldwide by integrating art technology Lora (communication network radio frequency for large area ) in its telemanagement system for public lighting – inteliLIGHT.

In the premiere, the team presented and demonstrated FlashNet first lighting controller protocol that uses public world LoRaWAN in Paris, in July 10, 2015. The system was operated through LoRaWAN Class C network, made available by the local operator Actility.

"Implementation of telemanagement system for public lighting has become so economical and faster than ever. Without affecting the functionality of the lighting control or platform for Smart City, installation inteliLIGHT is simplified by significantly reducing the number of nodes of communication, especially in areas with difficult terrain or in the electric network unstructured, "said Mr. Lorand Mozes, CEO of FlashNet.

Using Lora technology developed by Semtech, base station inteliLIGHT LoRaWAN can control up to 20,000 devices within a radius of up to 15 km, depending on geographic conditions. Due to the broad spectrum of radio frequency immunity, high interference and low energy consumption, Lora is the ideal technology to quickly establish a bi-directional communication with any intelligent equipment over a large area and in an efficient manner in  cost terms, as is also the case of Lora inteliLIGHT controller.

Compared with the communications technology used until now (radio network or communications cables, low-voltage – PLC) infrastructure type Lora has the advantage to adapt to situations in which the land is difficult or where electrical supply is unstructured. In addition, by optimizing networks Lora ™ and efficiency to the maximum bandwidth needed communication, a great deal of intelligence and system functions are transferred to the controller thus giving and capabilities of autonomous operation, useful for example when for reasons unforeseen falls the network communication.

Lora first network was installed in Romania in Brasov by FlashNet even being used to test new equipment. It also can be exploited in infrastructure and expand applications such as Smart City, Brasov is already a pioneer in this regard by implementing inteliLIGHT.

Besides breaker functions and reducing light intensity controller can operate autonomously based on pre-set programs and can adapt itself to environmental light sensors or motion. In addition, the controller measures and analyzes a number of electrical parameters: voltage, current, active power / reactive power, power factor, frequency. While measured data are transmitted to the server periodically based on an advanced synchronization mechanism, errors are reported in real time to allow their emergency remedy.

To ensure continuity and autonomy lighting controller including in cases where the power grid is interrupted, the system is equipped with a rechargeable battery. Also, encryption keys are stored in maximum security on a dedicated memory chip. The high level of security implemented at the hardware level, controllers do practically invulnerable to external intervention, they can be operated, programmed or updated only by authorized personnel.

About inteliLIGHT

inteliLIGHT is a telemanagement system for public lighting and Smart City applications platform developed by FlashNet.

Detailed control of each luminaire provides real-time information about all changes in the system, reducing energy consumption by 80% and by providing advanced planning tools that can reduce up to 42% maintenance costs. Currently, the inteliLIGHT it manages nearly 80,000 lighting poles in over 10 countries, accounting for significant energy savings and reductions in CO2 emissions atractive.

About Flashnet

Established in Brasov in 2005, FlashNet is a research and development in intelligent energy management with operations worldwide.

FlashNet integrates hardware and software technologies of latest IT generation, communications and energy management systems to build the utilities and Smart Cities: Smart Grid and Smart City. It is also one of the first companies that adopted Lora ™ technology getting involved and contributing still early to Lora Alliance ™ member. The solutions provided are widely used FlashNet being increasingly adopted by several municipalities in the world (Bahrain, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, etc.) (http: //www.flashnet. ro)

About LoRa

Lora ™ technology, developed by Semtech is a radio communications infrastructure in large parts optimized for low energy consumption appliances. The technical capabilities and cost effectiveness they offer, Lora ™ brings the concept of Internet of Things significantly closer to widespread adoption.

System features – long range, low power, high resistance to interference and frequency spectrum – are second only to ease interoperability and attention that was designed network security.

About LoRa Alliance

Alliance is a non-profit organization, made up of companies that thinks was Internet of Things has arrived. It has the mission to standardize communications networks type LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Networks) which are adopted In one rhythm that becoming faster worldwide to become reality concepts like Internet of Things (IoT), machine-to -machine (M2M) and Smart City.
