The first "Recycler" – device on which can be weighed WEEEs, who releases a voucher for a certain amount depending on weight and type of device – was placed on Monday at Cora Pantelimon Bucharest.
At the entrance in the "green zone" of the store, where there is also a device which selectively collect PET bottles and aluminum doses – "Green ATM", were displayed posters and prices for WEEE. For example, for laptops the price is 1.5 lei / kg, for PCs – 1.20 lei / kg, for televisions, LCD monitors, microwave ovens, boilers, radiators and printers – 0.7 lei / kg, for refrigerators, washing machines, cookers and air conditioners – 0.8 lei / kg and for mobile phones – 10 lei / kg. Thus, for a refrigerator, the voucher received may have a value of 80 lei.
WEEE machines will be installed in all 10 Cora stores in the country, within 30 days, by the Green Group in charge of recycling, according to representatives of the recycler.
Monday's event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Environment namely Minister Rovana Plumb and Secretary of State Elena Dumitru, founder of Green Group, Constantin Damov and Anca Popescu, store manager of Panteleimon.
Rovana Plumb said that through this project it wants to increase awareness among population regarding the selective collection and achieve the recycling target and imposed recycling by the European Commission through a Directive transposed into national law of 4 kg / capita; currently DEEE is collecting only 1.1 kg /capita.

He said that both projects – "Recycler" and " Green ATM " – are implemented with private funds of the Green Group and the retailer and that will not appeal to European funds or other grants or subsidies.
A machine for PET bottles and aluminum doses costs 20.000 euros, amount plus maintenance costs leading to 30.000 euros, while the cost of a device for WEEE, made even by Green Group, is estimated at $ 10.000 and maintenance at more than 5.000 euros, said to MEDIA FAX Constantin Damov.

Under this agreement was also released the "Green ATM" which takes plastic bottles and aluminum doses; those who produce them are making money by receiving 5 or 3 bani for each unit, all in the form of shopping vouchers.
These devices are found in Cora and Auchan stores in Bucharest, Pitesti, Bacau, Cluj-Napoca, Baia Mare, Arad, Drobeta Turnu Severin and Constanta.
Damov said at the beginning of the month that Green Group wants by the end of March to distribute in 40 stores these devices for collecting PET and aluminum doses and until the end of the year – 200. Green Group has already purchased 40 machines, 835.000 euros worth.
