\n\tMinister for Environment and Climate Change, Rovana Plumb, pleaded for a swift and concerted action so that climate change does not result in serious consequences for the future of humanity.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t" Romania supports, along with the European Union as a new global climate agreement needs strong political support to be finished in 2015. <\/span>Through this agreement, all nations must participate and contribute to combat climate change. <\/span>The objective of limiting global warming to less than two degrees Celsius requires joint efforts based on a clear framework for action. <\/span>We can not afford to leave Warsaw without having agreed a work plan defined with specific objectives and strategic milestones set for 2015, "said Rovana Plumb.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tRomanian delegation leader said the devastating consequences of recent extreme weather events in different parts of the world. <\/span>Prevention and control of these consequences compel the joint actions of all countries, both developed and of those of the developing and emerging economies.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t" In 2012, in Doha, Romania assumed, with all EU Member States, binding commitments under the Kyoto Protocol by 2020. <\/span>These translate into efforts and relevant costs for our citizens, but we will meet these commitments, "said Minister of Environment and Climate Change.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tMajor Stake Conference in Warsaw is the future global agreement on climate change, which aims to be signed in 2015 and will include commitments, actions and steps for nearly 200 state – parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change ( <\/span>UNFCCC).<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile some developed nations (including all EU Member States ) runs until 2020 a set of actions, policies, and reporting requirements under the Kyoto Protocol, with binding targets to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, about <\/span>85 % of global emissions are generated in countries that do not have obligations under this Protocol. <\/span>Large economies, including major global emitters, China and the United States have undertaken obligations under the Kyoto Protocol.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAgainst this background, a report released last week recorded a size unprecedented global CO2 emissions from fossil fuels: 36 billion tons in 2013, up 61 % compared to 1990, the reference year of the Protocol <\/span>Kyoto and the global climate negotiations.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tPost – Kyoto global agreement, to be signed in 2015, 2020 would allow all states to make commitments, binding measures or actions which will ensure the consolidation of actions to prevent and combat climate change.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tWarsaw negotiations continue at a high level, with final results expected later this week .<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
