\n\tThe map was created by a team from the University of Maryland and could be achieved by a single computer in 15 years, but using Google Earth was made in a few days, says Matthew Hansen, coordinator of the team.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe losses of forested surfaces were built between 2000 and 2012 to 2.3 million square kilometers because of illegal logging, fires, diseases and storms. <\/span>The planet also gained 800,000 square kilometers of forest in the same period.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tBrazil has the best score, reducing the loss by half between 2003-2004 and 2010-2011. <\/span>But Indonesia had the largest increase in deforested area, doubling its annual loss and thus reaching 20,000 square kilometers in 2011-2012.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tParaguay, Malaysia and Cambodia have the largest national forest loss. <\/span>In total rainforests grow by 2,100 square kilometers a year, as the researchers show.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
