Saint- Gobain Glass improves energy efficiency and substantially reducing noise pollution with a new laminated glass production line in the factory in Calarasi .
The new technology, unique in South East stratification consists of two or more sheets of float glass ( contains 30% recycled glass ), clear glass thermal insulation, and solar control via a foil polyvinylbutyral ( PVB ) .
Laminated glass significantly reduces almost to zero, ultraviolet radiation and provides enhanced protection to noise, "said Jerome Lionet, general manager of Saint- Gobain Glass Romania .
According to the company's factory in Calarasi, are produced annually 21 million square feet of float glass. In total, an amount of approximately 10 million square feet is subject to a process of coating metal in the magnetron sputerization line and another 2 million square meters of glass, will enter the new lamination line .
This new investment strengthens Saint – Gobain Glass among the largest greenfield investment in Romania, beeing the third major component of the manufacturing operations of the plant in Calarasi , "said Jerome Lionet ,
Besides the main functions of glass, sound insulation, UV protection, thermal insulation in all seasons, the product marketed under the brand SGG STADIP represents an innovation in the market through the glass bringing additional functions, the most significant being those related to the protection against accidents, vandalism and breaking and entering. Laminating film provides stability residual glass in case of breakage, the fragments remaining glued to it.
In 20 years, the energy efficiency of insulating windows SGG, increased about 6 times. For the residential sector, SGG has improved energy efficiency by 50% while maintaining constant solar gains, providing thermal insulation for all four seasons .
For the construction sector, SGG improved solar control more than 40% keeping the same degree of transparency. Windows actually blocks more than 60 % of the sun's heat, being real protective shield against UV rays .
