<span class=\"hps\">needed to<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">improve the functioning of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cells with<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a large area<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">are lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">Solar panels<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">currently available<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">tend to be<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">rigid and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">dark<\/span><span>.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Organic<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">photovoltaic<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">technology<\/span><span>,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">by<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">contrast,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">allows<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the fabrication of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">transparent and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">flexible<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">solar panels<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a variety<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of colors.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">However<\/span><span>, this technology<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">must meet certain<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">requirements<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">if they<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">will<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">be accepted<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">on the market<\/span><span>:<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">greater efficiency<\/span><span>,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">durability and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">low<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">production<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cost<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">Thus<\/span><span>, this research<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">aims<\/span> <span class=\"hps atn\">&quot;<\/span><span>to explore<\/span> <span <span class=\"hps\">operations<\/span><span>,<\/span><span>&quot;<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">emphasized<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ikerne<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Etxebarria<\/span><span>,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">researcher at the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">UPV<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">\/<\/span> <span style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">The research team<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">analyzed<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the maximum size<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of a cell<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">is<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and how<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">great is the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">surface.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Different cells<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">with different<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">structures and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">surfaces<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">have been designed<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for this purpose.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Once<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the results<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">had been<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">analyzed<\/span><span>,<\/span> <span class=\"hps atn\">&quot;<\/span><span>we found that<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cells<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of approximately 6<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cm 2<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">strength<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">was directly proportional<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to their size<\/span><span>.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">In<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">larger areas<\/span><span>, however<\/span><span>,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the cell<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">performance<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">decreases<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">considerably<\/span><span>,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">&quot;underlined<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Etxebarria<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span lang=\"en\"><strong><span class=\"hps\">The investigator<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">came to the following<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">conclusions<\/span><\/strong><span><strong>:<\/strong> in order to<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">be able<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">produce<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a large area<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">solar<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cells<\/span><span>,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">it is necessary to<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">build<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">modules<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">with<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">small area<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cells<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">are connected<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in series or<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in parallel.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">For<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the manufacture of the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">modules<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">between the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">electrode<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">layer<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to be<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">structured<\/span><span>, in other<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">words<\/span><span>,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the cells must<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">be<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">connected to each other<\/span><span>.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">&quot;So far<\/span><span>,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the structure<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">has been made<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">mechanically or<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">by laser<\/span><span>, but<\/span> is <span class=\"hps\">the risk of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">damaging the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">substrate<\/span><span>.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">However,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in this research<\/span><span>, we developed<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a new technique<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">automatically<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">structuring,<\/span> <span class=\"hps atn\">&quot;<\/span><span>adds<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ikerne<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Etxebarria<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">This technique involves the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">transformation of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the structure from<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the substrate surface<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in order<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">improve the efficiency of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the cell.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">A<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">further object of this<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">research<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">was to<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">find a<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">way<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to manufacture<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">highly efficient<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cell<\/span><span>.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Therefore<\/span><span>, the first step<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">was to<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">optimize<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">production<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of cells<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">based on<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">different polymers<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in order<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to achieve<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">maximum efficiency<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of these materials<\/span><span>;<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Second<\/span><span>, the polymers<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">which absorb light at<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">different wavelengths<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">were used<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for the production of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">tandem<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cell<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">structure<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">make it more<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">effective.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps atn\">&quot;<\/span><span>Each<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">polymer<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">absorbs light<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">at a<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">different wavelength<\/span><span>.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Ideal<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">would be<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to take advantage of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">all the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sunshine,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">but<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">there is no<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">polymer<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">capable of absorbing<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">light at<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">all wavelengths<\/span><span>.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">So to<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">be able<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to achieve<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">efficient use<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of sunlight<\/span><span>,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">one of the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">possibilities<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">is to build<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">structures such as<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">tandem<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">cells<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">fabricated<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to fit<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">with different<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">polymers,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">one above the
