Giga Solar has launched a photovoltaic solar panel lighter with a quick and simple installation.
Giga Solar was established in July 2011. Motivation Tom Hood, founder of Giga Solar has been developing innovative photovoltaic products, which would increase the use of solar power globally.
According to company founder, quoted by Clean Technica, a photovoltaic solar panel D262 weighs 16 kg, 60% lighter than typical glass module with an aluminum frame.
"Our modules are frameless and do not use any glass that in a standard module represents about 80% by weight. Instead of glass on top of the module, the innovative use a composite lightweight on the bottom of the module, in order to provide rigidity. On top using a thin polymer film, which has a long lifetime in photovoltaic applications, "says Tom Hood.
President Giga Solar May punctuate that due to the low weight of photovoltaic solar panels, transportation costs are cut in half. The greatest savings are realized, however, the installation work. For example, a residential roof installation, the amounts will be about 0.35 to 0.40 USD / Wp to $ 0.50 - 0.55/Wp dollars on based module glass.
"Photovoltaic weight limits are usually a problem for commercial rooftops. It's hard to give an answer related to the percentage of commercial roofing would accept Giga Solar module, not a traditional way, because other factors determine if a roof can accommodate a PV system or not. These factors include ballasting and weight distribution. An easier way gives the engineer greater flexibility in designing a PV system, "says Tom Hood.
It adds that in the past, light modules used expensive materials and assembly methods that made them uncompetitive in many applications. "We have carefully selected composites not only to satisfy the most demanding mechanical and environmental requirements in photovoltaic applications, but also because the panels have reduced costs."
