MPs from all political camps of France have joined efforts in the pages of a report that advocates for exploring this unconventional energy resources.

Senator conservative and socialist deputy pleads to document dozens of wells drilling and hydraulic fracturing experiment improved and other alternative techniques.

Conclude that shale gas has been demonized in France without a thorough investigation, say the report’s authors in the country to ban any form of exploration or exploitation by law since the time of former President Nicolas Sarkozy. This decision was confirmed by the Constitutional Court during his french  tenure Francois Hollande.

French lawmakers say they do not support increased consumption of hydrocarbons, but its gradual reduction. But those that are consumed should come mainly from the French underground, the report said, according to the RFI.

The two MPs were appointed to study alternative methods of exploration and drilling for shale gas, other than hydraulic fracturing, a controversial method because of possible environmental effects. The presented document in Parliament finds that there are many alternatives that could be used, among them the so-called fracturing with propane which is already widely used, but the political decision prevents research in the field.

The whole world supports research only France stays up on the spot, the authors say in the report that this attitude is evidence of obscurantism. As hydraulic fracturing, the document notes that the technique is already well known for French operators as it has been applied 45 times with no negative effect on the environment to the coming into force of the ban.
