Oana Adjudeanu, consultant in the department of Property Management of Colliers International Romania has obtained the LEED Accredited Professional certification in Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance (LEED AP O + M) specialisation, becoming the first consultant in Romania with international accreditation for the existing LEED green certification projects.
The LEED AP O + M accreditation is given to professionals that put in place sustainable practices focused on improving performance, increasing efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of existing buildings. This speciality indicates a thorough level of practical knowledge of the LEED existing buildings.
Through the superior level of elaborate knowledge that it requires, LEED AP O + M accreditation offers to the customers direct access to creative solutions, specific, to optimize the certification process, while ensuring the efficient administration of long-term properties”, said Stefania Baldovinescu, Head of Property Management at Colliers International.
LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is internationally recognized as an emblem of excellence in green building.
The certification consists in a program of independent examination by others, of the buildings, to establish the degree of compliance with environmental sustainability strategies. The buildings, subject to a certification process, receive points according to the degree of fulfillment of a predetermined set of criteria relating to: sustainable site development, water saving, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
The premises and loans offered varies depending on the established evaluation system, this decision being taken by the team responsible for the certification process.
According to the USGBC data, globally, nearly 1 billion square feet of space is in progress to obtain a LEED certification, while the cumulative building area daily certified is about 140.000m2.
Colliers International is one of the top real estate consulting companies in Romania accredited to give consultance for green buildings certification, due to the launch of this service in 2011.
Currently, Colliers assist 12 projects in Romania and more than 20 projects in Central and Eastern Europe, in order to obtain green certification.
