Subsidies for green energy producers will be drastically reduced from next year, said the Minister for Energy, Constantin Nita. For the application of the decision requires the approval of the European Commission.
“We will reduce next year subsidies for renewable energy. We prepared a draft law to this effect, which we will approve the next period, “said Nita to Bussiness24.
Minister delegate said that it wants to exempt large energy consumers to pay 50 % of green certificates, but is not sure that this will be implemented starting to next year and will require the authorities in Brussels.
“I did notice this. It is the Competition Council, which will be sent to DG Competition ( Competition Authority, European Commission ). We hope to be possible to implement them next year, but we can not say with certainty that, ” added Nita.
The decision comes after a large number of wind turbines and solar panels installed in recent years that greatly increased consumers bill, especially to the intensive industry.
Green certificates receved by the renewable energy producers are paid by consumers in Romania in the final bill for electricity.
