Australian company Oceanlinx mareomotrica inaugurated the first 1 MW plant in the world in Port MacDonnell, located in South Australia. Central was developed with support for proper Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and will undergo tests over the next 12 months to determine how well it feeds into the national grid.
If all goes well, investors plans to develop a 10-megawatt version of the device.
Technology " Greenwave " those from Oceanlinx waves uses energy to produce pressurized air which is then injected into a turbine that generates electricity. The converter is embedded in a precast concrete formwork which is anchored at depths of 10-15 meters, without destroying the seabed.
Our investment aims to demonstrate the technology and share lessons learned to catalyze future projects. The project improved research collaboration between sectors, government and industry to deliver mareometric projects, and solve regulatory problems, which will contribute to the next project easier, "said CEO ARENA, Ivor Frischknecht.
ARENA has contributed to the project with $ 4.4 million of the total $ 8 million.
Oceanlinx has already achieved a power purchase agreement with the energy from renewable energy Diamond.
